Clothing Shirt
How much would a piece of clothing like a shirt weigh?

and how about jeans… or a dress? in ounces :)

Shirts are usually between 4 to 6 ounces for average sizes. Larger men’s shirts will be about 6 to eight ounces for cotton dress shirts.

most jeans are made of 12 or 14 ounce denim. This means a yard of fabric will weigh 12 ounces or 14 ounces. A standard pair of adult jeans will take about 1 and half yards of fabric, plus metal hardware, so the average is about 20 to 24 ounces. It’s difficult to calculate the weight of a dress without knowing the fiber and fabric. Needless to say, lighter fabrics like silk and rayon weigh less while wools cottons and linens will weigh more. And the more fabric in the dress, the more that will add to the weight. FInally buttons, zippers and hardware add to the weight. You can buy fabric scales from Dye supply shops, these are used to weigh items so the dyer knows the proper proportions to mix for the dyes and chemicals so the piece dyes properly.
