Chihuahua potty question?
I just had my 6 month old puppy flown in from Tx to Michigan. In Tx she is use to the heat and other dogs plus a doggy door. Here I don’t have a doggy door and can’t have one. Its getting cold also.
I take her outside and once in a while she will go potty but not all the time. She is crate trained so shes in there at night and while im at work. She has peed a couple times in the house and pooped once.
Is there a way to get her to go while we’re outside? She seems way to preoccupied with other things going on, birds, leaves blowing. I know she needs to go, I can see it. But she won’t go outside consistently. I praise her and give her treats when she goes outside but I feel kinda lost.
Any advice?
I also had a Chi shipped from TX to NJ> He arrived in late Feb and it was 29 degrees. I started with PP pads on the bathroom floor. I would place him on it anytime he finished playing or 10 mins after eating/drinking. In the summer he took care of business outdoors, but now it is getting cold and I set his PP pad back up in the bathroom for those days he refuses to go outside due to his shivers. Escobar also looks around at squirrels, sea gulls etc but if it is cold he will not budge from the porch. I too do the treats, but since He is always cold you have to do what works for your pup. This works for mine, and I just toss the pad and replace.
