Why does my year old Maltese dog like to chew on his fleece blanket?
When a dog is one year old, they’re still considered a puppy. Dogs are puppies up to about 2 years old. So, that means your dog still has chewing habits.
Is the fleece blanket an old one that you used to use? If so, he could be chewing on it because it’s comforting because it smell like you!
If it’s not, then it could just be soft on his gums. Does he have soft chew toys? If he does, then he could think his blanket is one of those toys. If not, then he could be replacing the blanket as a toy.
There’s many possibilities but the main reason is; dogs chew on everything! If you don’t like him chewing, just give him corrections when he starts chewing on it. If you don’t mind, then let him have his puppy fun!
