Dogs & Orange County beaches/towns?

We’re going on vacation to the Orange County area & I know that Huntington has a dog beach a way up the road…and I know dogs are only allowed on the beaches before 8am & after 5pm (I think I have that right!)……

My question is what places are best to go w/ your dog? If we ate on the patio somewhere, or we were just tooling around a pier…..which places are most “dog-loving”??

Our puppy will almost be 1 yr old & he’s very well behaved & trained. I’m not worried about HIM….I just don’t want to offend others by taking him somewhere that is not cool to do so (since I’m just visiting).
Ugh – I mentioned I understood the time constraints w/ dogs on the beach. If I took my dog through training would I not be responsible enough to pick up after him??
I have found several OC eateries the welcome dogs – I just wanted to know if this was the norm or not.

Yes huntington has a nice dog beach right off of PCH (pacific coast highway)
You can also take your dog up to the dog runs that are up by the hollywood sign (I think its called runion park)

El Segundo has a decent dog park and so does redondo beach off of 190th street
Almost all of the other beaches in the southern california area won’t allow dogs on beaches at all
